Accelerated carbonation of ferrous and non-ferrous slags to produce clinker-free carbonate-bonded blocks: Synergetic reduction in environmental leaching

نویسندگان

چکیده

Clinker-free, carbonate-bonded monoliths are prepared by accelerated carbonation for immobilization of hazardous elements present in: a stainless-steel slag, two copper slags, and one lead slag. In addition to the studies on individual mixes slags with 33 % 66 replacements slag also studied. Combinations temperatures (30 60 °C) three CO2-pressures (1, 5, 10 barg) Among non-ferrous carbonated individually, at barg exhibited carbonate-cementation. The containing high compressive strengths, individually or as in its other slags. while showed decrease Cr-leaching, Cr-leaching from disproportionately lower: possible chemical synergy sulfidic is discussed. For significantly decreases Pb-leaching; Co, Zn, Mn leaching first increase then an CO2-pressure. Pb, decreased. Temperature does not have significant influence product properties. Copper remained relatively insensitive towards carbonation. Comparisons made Flemish legislative limits.

On the Aging of Ferrous Hydroxide and Ferrous Carbonate

Interest in the aging of metal hydroxide has increased greatly during the past few years and it is due, no doubt, mainly to the fact that certain metal hydroxides have become useful for the isolation of enzymes and vitamins. The selective adsorption properties of these hydroxides, aluminum hydroxide for example, make them suitable for these purposes. Their surface forces make it possible to sep...

Binder Fraction Reduction in Non-ferrous Metals Concentrates Briquetting Process

M. Jodkowski, J. Łabaj, J. Brzóska, D. Jama – Silesian University of Technology, Katowice, Poland The research results on a method of reducing the amount of binder applied during formation of metal concentrates are presented. Research was done on a model copper concentrate, which was mixed in assumed mass fraction with binder, as well as binder with addition of waste polyols. Such mixtures were...

Analysis of total metals in waste molding and core sands from ferrous and non-ferrous foundries.

Waste molding and core sands from the foundry industry are successfully being used around the world in geotechnical and soil-related applications. Although waste foundry sands (WFSs) are generally not hazardous in nature, relevant data is currently not available in Argentina. This study aimed to quantify metals in waste molding and core sands from foundries using a variety of metal-binder combi...
